Seasons Change

As I am writing this article it is bone- chilling cold outside here in the city of Hamilton but in less than 2 months or so, spring will come into being and it will be time to put away the winter clothing and enjoy the warmer temperatures once again.

We have been very fortunate however to have had some great mild spells during this time of the year and how strange it was to see people walking around here in T-shirts in mid-January!

For Canadians of course the weather is always a big subject of our conversations as it fluctuates so much in the run of a year and as the seasons unfold before us.

For us as spiritual creatures created in God’s image, we often also can see how the seasons of life roll through our lives at various times and circumstances bringing to us new experiences; some pleasant and some not so pleasant.

As the writer of Ecclesiastes wrote in chapter 3:1, “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.” As we learn to live with this truth in our lives, we begin to be more accepting and at peace with the many challenges that can come our way, some very unexpectedly.

Its only when we want our lives to always be predictable and stable that we begin at times to become unravelled by the vicissitudes of life that often appear on our personal radar screens.

By accepting each season as it is without reservation or resentment, we can find that secret place of contentment and joy that the Apostle Paul spoke about in Phil. 4:12.

Is there a season you are going through right now that seems somewhat difficult or perplexing?

Don’t be frightened or downcast, God is in it and will see you through…look up to Him today!

” Peace I leave with you my peace I give to you. I do give to you as the world gives it. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Jesus; John 14:27
