A Pastor’s Ponderings: Tearing Down or Building Up?

The devotion I take is from Gal. 6:2, “Bear one another’s burdens, and fulfill the law of Christ.” (my paraphrase)

I think it weighs on me when I see or hear of Christians trying to tear one another down, and it shouldn’t be this way. It also tells us in the Bible not to speak evil of each other. If it bothers me, how does Jesus feel? How does the Father feel? Doesn’t this also grieve the Holy Spirit?

Let me remind everyone that the world, who is lost and dying without Him, is watching us as well. And the first thought, that probably comes to them is: if this is how they treat each other, then why should I be a Christian?

No wonder a preacher friend of mine once said, “Christians treat each other like horses; once they get old or useless, they get sent to the back forty and eventually, shot and sold for glue.”
When we see a brother or sister in need, the first thing we should do is pray for them, talk to the Father for them, not to everyone else about them.
Blessings,
