I’m using Mark 15:38 as my scripture as well as references in Matthew 27:51 and Luke 23:45. Mark says, “The veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.”
’The veil’ refers to the curtain separating the Holy of Holies from the rest of the Temple (Ex. 26:33; 38:18; Heb. 9:3) where only the High Priest was to go into once a year to make atonement for the sins of the people.
But when Christ died, He made atonement for all of us, so that not only made atonement for our (yours, mine and everyone’s) sins, but now we have direct access to God through Jesus Christ and what He did at Calvary.
Most of this is covered in the book of Hebrews and Eph. 2:18, signifying that we have a new and living way now open into the presence of God (Heb.10:20; Eph. 2:21-22).
Secondly, God tore the veil, from top to bottom. Now, if man had torn it, they would have had to do it from the bottom to the top. Also, it would have been most difficult if not impossible as the veil was 32 inches (or almost 80 cm) thick and a team of oxen had tested it to make sure it would not tear.
Blessings
