Bio – Sheri Thrower

Sheri Thrower is no stranger to gospel music. Starting out as a soprano backup vocalist for Christian artist, Larnelle Harris, her boundaries have expanded to ministry performances which include:  The Downings, Phil Cross and Crossing, Sheri Thrower and Praise, and others.

A vocal and songwriting instructor for The Steve Hurst School of Music in Nashville, TN, Sheri makes her home in North Georgia, where she presently teaches music in public school and directs a children’s choir of 3^rd through 5^th graders. Sheri’s elementary choir has been the featured premier music for Radio City Music Hall’s “The Rockette’s Show,” in The Big Apple for the past three years. The 75 voice children’s choir has also been featured on Rob Patz’s “Southern Style” radio show.

Sheri is the proud mother of two teenage children and enjoys writing, arranging, and producing. Praise and worship leader for Ann Downing’s “Middle Tennessee Women’s Retreat,” she has recently embarked on a new journey as choral arranger for Phil Cross and Cross Music Group and is excited to share her creativity in this new venue.

"Wash.  Rinse.  Repeat."

I don’t know about you, but I tend to ignore the directions on the shampoo bottle in my shower that say, “Wash. Rinse.  Repeat.” I’m more likely to practice “Wash. Rinse. Run to work.” I’m in too big of a hurry to follow those directions!

These instructions are not only good for your hair…but for your life, your job, your networking world.  Many times we are surrounded by negativity in our circles of influence; negative people who drain us of our energy and steal our peace, our sleep at night. It could be someone who has a critical spirit, who is hyper-judgmental, or who is dishonest in business matters.  Having been in Christian music ministry for some time, I’ve seen many ministries suffer because of unhealthy relationships. I’ve been there. You’ve probably have, too.

What do you do when you find yourself in a pattern of unhealthy relationships or a circle of negativity?  Well, it might help to take the advice of the shampoo bottle in your shower. You may have to set some needed boundaries and wash away some negative influences from your world. Rinse away the grime and dirt of critical words from your mind and surround yourself with uplifting, encouraging Christian people.  Once you do this, keep on surrounding yourself with their words and their influence.  In other words, “Repeat!”  Make it a habit.   Sometimes an encouraging word is only one phone call or email away.

Proverbs 25:11 says:
^11”A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”

Where is your place to find “fitly spoken words?” This might be a good day to go there and hang out a while.

And for all the negative words/people that are “bad apples” in your world….”Wash. Rinse. Repeat.”
