God Knows
       Mike & Darla Cornell

Everywhere you turn these days, it seems people are falling on hard time and discouragement seems to be running rampant.  The question “Why?” is being posed more often than not and people are struggling to understand why circumstances are resulting in the loss of their job or loved one and questioning the stability of their future. When doubts & fear creeps in and those questions arise, its common to question what God is doing and if He even sees or knows what is going on in our lives and in the world in general. The Bible offers us hope in these trying times. In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” In these uncertain times, it’s such a comfort to know that God Knows. He knows what we’re going through and He promised us He will be there. That is why the timing of Mike & Darla Cornell’s latest project and title song couldn’t be better. The message of God Knows is a comfort and encouragement to remember that God is with us along this life full of ups and downs, triumphs and trials. And not only does He know, but He cares about the outcome of our lives, He has plans for our futures and we must rest in Him while we ride out our storms.

So, who are Mike & Darla Cornell, you might ask? Well, let me take a moment and I’d be happy to introduce you. Mike & Darla Cornell make up the husband/wife duet that is based out of Bakersfield, CA. I first met Mike and Darla about a year ago when they opened for Legacy 5 in a concert down in their stomping grounds of Bakersfield. At that time, they were known as Psalms 100 Ministry, which encompassed their ministry in music, evangelism and mission work in foreign regions like, Antigua, West Indies and South Africa.  From my first encounter with the Cornells, I was drawn to them and their heart to reach people in the hopes of drawing them to Him and encouraging a deeper, more substantial walk with God and cultivating a passion for Christ that would extend to a life changing alteration. So, it was no surprise to me when I learned that Mike and Darla have devoted their lives in service through working in many churches as worship leaders and musicians for decades.

Most recently though, Mike and Darla have made some personal changes and big decisions, including stepping down from their other commitments at their home church and making the faith-abounding plunge into full-time ministry as Mike & Darla Cornell. With this leap also came a new project release entitled, God Knows. I was thrilled to be invited to the CD Release party celebrating the culmination of a lot of hard work, prayer and people working together to make it all happen. It is apparent that the songs chosen for this project were hand-selected for the message ingrained in the lyrics. My personal favorites are No Wonder I’m So Happy, God Knows, & Where Eyes Don’t Cry, dedicated to the orphans in South Africa who touched the lives of Mike and Darla in life-changing proportions.  I also have to make mention of the song Written in Red. I was first introduced to the song when Janet Paschal made it popular and I became an instant lover of the song. However, Darla’s genuine attention to the message of the song and sincere delivery grabbed me immediately and I was drawn in by her rendition and it became an instant favorite on their project as well.

I am excited to see what the future holds and hear of the exciting adventures God has in store for Mike and Darla. With the leap to full-time, they are kicking off a summer tour that will lead them from California, on into Utah, through Colorado, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and all points in between and finally ending up in Branson, Missouri. Then they’ll head back home ending up in Sacramento and Brentwood, CA. Their summer tour begins July 5th and will conclude July 25th.
