About 2 ˝ years ago, I did a series of Top 20 lists, each one focused on the vocalists who sing (or sang) a particular part.  Well, I am going to resurrect that series and put a slightly different spin on it.  For the next several months, we’ll be looking at the Top 20 vocalists at each position, but the catch is that they have to be currently active in Southern Gospel to make the lists this time.  You know there’s going to be some changes from the last time we did a series like this.  After all, this is Southern Gospel music.  Personnel changes are the norm! LOL  We’ll start this month with the tenors.

All of you, I’m sure, have heard many jokes about tenor singers. “Looks like a man, sings like a woman,” or “….singing the woman’s part for our group is…………”  Is it any wonder that tenors can sometimes be a very interesting breed of Southern Gospel singer? J  But, all jokes aside, a good tenor is essential to a good quartet.  They don’t have to be excessively high, but they do have to have a clear tone to their voice.

Once again, let me refresh your memory about how I do these lists.  The names on the list will be in alphabetical order.  Trying to say that one is “better” than another one is pretty much impossible.  I will list the group that each vocalist currently sings with.

Now- on to the names and comments!
